The 2026 Oregon Primary ElectionVoting Information for Washington County Voters

How to turn in your ballot

In Oregon, all voting happens by mail. That means you can either mail your ballot in or drop it off at an official ballot dropbox.

Mailing in your ballot

Turning in your ballot by mail is easy to do. After you cast your vote, sign the back of your ballot, seal it and drop it back into your mailbox or a USPS mailbox near you. If you’re mailing in your ballot, it will need to be postmarked by Election day (Tuesday, May 19th). If you missed your carrier’s pickup window on Election Day, you can either go into a post office and have your local USPS clerk physically stamp it or drop it off at an official dropbox.

You can mail your ballot back from anywhere, as long as it is postmarked by Election Day. You do not have to use a Washington County mailbox or USPS mailbox to mail back your ballot, as long as you are a registered Washington County voter.

Dropping it off at an official dropbox location

Dropping off your ballot at an official dropbox location is easy to do. Many libraries in the county are outfitted with election drop boxes every year. You can drop off your ballot 24 hours a day, as dropbox locations will move collection drop boxes outdoors if it is outside of their regular business hours. The deadline for dropping off your ballot is 8 PM on Election Day (Tuesday, May 19th). Most dropbox locations also offer free “I voted” stickers.

You do not have to use a Washington County dropbox to return your completed ballot. As long as you use an official Oregon dropbox, you can use a dropbox located in any Oregon county.

Common Voting Issues

Oregon is a vote by mail state, but if you run into any voting issues, you can reach out to the Elections office by phone, mail or in-person.

Missing or Lost Ballot

Ballots are mailed out starting on Wednesday, April 29th by the Washington County Election’s office and may take a few days to arrive in your inbox. If you’re missing your ballot, we recommend checking your listed mailing address on the Oregon Secretary of State website. Your registered mailing address may be different from your voting address.

Incorrect Ballot Races

The ballot you receive will reflect the races that belong to your voting address districts. This may be different from your mailing address. If your races don’t line up with your permanent Oregon residence, please reach out to the Washington County Elections Office.
